Computer adverts

November 14th, 2009

I am a human not a tool
I use a computer and am not defined my my operating system
I am not arrogant enough to think I influence the decisions of American multi nationals
I have my own Ideas and don’t take others ideas as my own
I do not need to ridicule the competition, I let my work stand for itself
I do not want to exploit the failings of other’s, I’d rather help them improve
I understand we live in a world of diversity and choice, I respect that we don’t like the same thing

I’m a computer user and originality was my idea

Facebook – can you explain this?

July 12th, 2009

As some of you know, last month My Facebook was deactivated, I still don’t know why so I emailed Facebook.
Today I got this reply:

“Your account was disabled because you exceeded Facebook’s limits on multiple occasions, despite having been warned to slow down. Upon further review of your site activity, we have determined that you were in violation of our Terms of Use.

One of Facebook’s main priorities is the comfort and safety of our users. Accordingly, Facebook does not endorse unsolicited contact with strangers as it may be considered annoying or abusive. It is especially prohibited when large groups of users who share similar physical characteristics are targeted for this type of behavior.

Unfortunately, your account has been permanently disabled. We will not be able to reactivate it for any reason, nor will we provide further explanation of your violation or the systems we have in place. This decision is absolutely final.”

I’m afraid I do not understand most of what was said.

I have not received any warnings about my account deactivation, nor have I received requests to ’slow down’ and more importantly I am still unaware as to what I should have slowed down from or what limits I have exceed.

Can anyone tell me where I should have received these warnings and how I should have retrieved and responded to them? Because I have no record of them.

I fully appreciate Facebook’s stance on unsolicited contact. But I don’t think I have participated in that you consider to
have breached this conduct.

I feel I have received no warning before my account was permanently deactivated, I was not informed of any violations I may have
committed. I have not been given an opportunity to respond to these claims and have not been provided with any time or opportunity to rectify my behaviour.

Can anyone explain what’s going on or actually tell me what I did wrong?

O2 and the iPhone 3GS

June 11th, 2009

First A Little History

When the original iPhone came out in the UK the deal with O2 was that part of each monthly bill would be given to Apple. No big deal for O2, when they sell a subsidised phone, they use part of the monthly bill to pay of the subsidy. With the iPhone they just sell the phone at full price and still pay Apple.

With the 3G Apple was no longer able to demand a cut of the bill due to the deals it has worked out for other territories. O2 could subsidise the phone and customers where happy. Because we were not paying of a subsidy O2 where happy to get us all to extend our contracts at NO COST TO THEM.

Now that people are wanting to upgrade from a subsidised phone to another subsidised phone, O2 has a problem. And that is why they are currently unwilling to do a deal for existing users.

I get this and understand why O2 are doing what they are doing. I might not be happy with it, but I feel that they have a valid reason for how they are handling this upgrade. Just because we got special treatment with the last upgrade, iPhone users assume now that the circumstances are different we should still get that special treatment.

I’ve just found my new best friend

September 3rd, 2007

I may have had my old best friend stolen but, I think I’ve found a new one:
Virgin 1

This channel has all the best programs on it:

  • The Riches
  • Star trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine & Voyager (Not to bothered about Enterprise)
  • Criminal Minds
  • Boston Legal
  • Some Terminator Spin-off that looks quite good

How did Sky miss out these?

All they need now is Dr Who, Disparate House Wives & Lost and I’ll never need to watch another channel!!
